Islamabad; 20 May 2021 – People of Ukraine celebrated Embroidery Day today country wide and world wide where ever are the diaspora or the Embassies of Ukraine.
It seems that this holiday has existed for a long time , but in fact only since 2006 It was initiated not by governments, not by public or political organizations, but by ordinary Ukrainian – a student of the Chernivtsi National University named after Yuri Fedkovich Les Voronyuk.
She suggested that classmates and friends wear embroidery – all at the same time. Even teachers supported the idea. Agreed on the third Thursday of May and impressed on this day of all citizens with a mass exit in embroidery. The action was so liked and inspired that they decided to repeat it next year.
From then on, the action was joined by not only students and not only in Chernivtsi. From year to year she gained an all-Ukrainian scale and over time turned into an unofficial holiday – the Embroidery Day, which continues to be celebrated on the third Thursday of May. This year he fell on the 20th.
