LAHORE : Monitoring Desk – A 22-year-old student of a private university died after falling from the fourth floor of a campus building on Defence Road. Fellow students shared privately on condition of anonymity that the non payment of fee and use of strict words on non payment of fee forced the student to commit suicide.
Police statement is not clear , “The deceased was identified as Muhammad Owais, a Pharm-D student of Semester Five, Section D. police said Owais fell from the fourth floor under circumstances that are yet to be determined. Fellow students rushed him to the University of Lahore Teaching Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.”
Police said an investigation is under way to ascertain whether the incident was an accident or a case of suicide.
“CCTV footage from the university premises is being reviewed, and statements of students and staff are being recorded to determine the exact cause of the fall,” a police official said.
University authorities stated that they were fully cooperating with law enforcement agencies in the inquiry. But the sources privy to the unfortunate incident tell the other story. The administration actually tried its best to cover up the matter. Directed the students who made the videos of the incident were asked to delete the proofs.
A cultural show to be held at the same place a few hours later was also not cancelled.
Complete silence is on media only because the University adminstration owns a newspaper as well.
The statements of class fellows and the circumstance express what happened actually. University of Lahore is a private university not famous for its fee structures and strict policies of the administration to fetch money by hook or by crook from the students.
