Islamabad; United States State Department has announced that the name of Uzbekistan has been removed from the Special Watch List based on significant, concrete progress undertaken by the government of Uzbekistan over the past year. Their courageous reforms of their laws and practices stand as models for other nations to follow.
Secretary of State Mr Mike Pompeo issued this statement on 07 Dec 2020 in which he admitted that Uzbekistan has taken responsible measures to ensure religious freedom in the country.
The announcement has been welcomed in Uzbekistan.
