ISLAMABAD: Monitoring Desk – At the invitation of the President of Mongolia, Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, paid a state visit to Mongolia on June 24–25, 2025.
According to the official program, high-level talks and bilateral meetings were scheduled to take place in the Mongolian capital, Ulaanbaatar. The leaders deliberated on ways to further strengthen the bonds of friendship and expand practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Mongolia.
The discussions will covered a broad spectrum of issues, including increasing bilateral trade, diversifying the range of traded goods, and advancing joint projects in key sectors such as industry, agriculture, mining, and transportation. Both sides emphasized the importance of sustained cultural and humanitarian exchanges to foster deeper people-to-people ties.
The summit concluded with the signing of a comprehensive package of bilateral agreements aimed at enhancing the strategic partnership and advancing shared priorities.
Following high-level talks in the Mongolian capital, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh formally adopted a Joint Declaration on the Establishment of a Comprehensive Partnership, marking a new era in bilateral relations between the two nations.
The declaration, signed in the presence of both Heads of State, underscores a mutual commitment to deepen political dialogue, economic cooperation, and cultural exchanges across a wide range of sectors.
Alongside the Joint Declaration, a number of key intergovernmental and inter-ministerial agreements were signed, further solidifying the foundation for long-term collaboration.
These included:
Cooperation agreements in the fields of plant quarantine and protection, higher education, the mining industry, environmental protection, crime prevention and law enforcement, healthcare and medical science, and physical culture and sports.
A cooperation protocol between the archival agencies of both countries, aimed at strengthening historical and documentary collaboration.
A series of sectoral cooperation programs, including:
Between the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Economy and Development of Mongolia;
A foreign policy cooperation program for 2026–2027 between the respective Ministries of Foreign Affairs;
A culture and youth cooperation program for 2025–2028 between the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth of Mongolia.
A detailed cooperation plan in agriculture, signed between the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry of Mongolia, focused on expanding joint efforts in agricultural development and food security.
An action plan on ecotourism development, agreed upon by the Ministry of Ecology,
Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Culture,
Sports, Tourism, and Youth of Mongolia, to promote sustainable tourism and conservation efforts.
The signing of these documents reflects the shared vision of the two nations to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation and to build a dynamic and enduring partnership grounded in trust, respect, and common development objectives.
