Uzbekistan President Signs the Law on “Combating Trafficking in Human Beings”

Tashkent/ Uzbekistan ;Dunyo Information Agency – The President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the law “On Combating Trafficking in Human Beings”, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent on 18 Aug 2020.

According to the law, identification is carried out in order to provide necessary assistance to victims of human trafficking and to protect them, as well as to prevent the risk of their re-involvement in human trafficking.

The law also establishes the procedure for social rehabilitation and adaptation of victims of trafficking in persons, including the following:

– providing material assistance during the period of placement in specialized institutions;

– provide temporary housing, food, sanitary and hygienic facilities, and, if necessary, clothing-head, shoes and other necessary items;

– providing assistance in employment, education, vocational orientation and vocational training and retraining;

– assistance in the search for Social re-integration, including relatives.

It has been established that information about victims of trafficking in persons, alleged victims of trafficking in persons and the circumstances of the crimes committed against them, as well as information about the security measures taken are not subject to disclosure.

The law comes into force upon the expiration of 6 months from the date of its official publication.
