Starting 26 October this year, «Uzbekistan airways», the national airline of Uzbekistan, will introduce additional regular flights between Tashkent and Islamabad.

Uzbekistan airways currently operates flights on the Tashkent–Islamabad–Tashkent route twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Effective 26 October, the flight schedule will be revised, with services operating on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The introduction of additional flights is aimed at expanding passenger transport capacity between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, while providing greater convenience for tourists, business travellers and transit passengers. The revised schedule will offer passengers more flexibility when planning their journeys. As a result, it will create further opportunities to strengthen business, tourism and cultural ties between the two countries.

The new flights are expected to play a particularly important role in increasing the number of tourists travelling from Pakistan to Uzbekistan, promoting pilgrimage tourism and raising international awareness of Uzbekistan’s rich historical and cultural heritage.

In particular, improved air connectivity will provide greater convenience for tourists wishing to visit Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva — key historic centres along the Great Silk Road.

Furthermore, the enhanced flight schedule will reinforce Tashkent’s role as a regional transport hub, creating additional opportunities for organising tourist trips to other Central Asian countries.

In 2025, more than 20,000 tourists from Pakistan visited Uzbekistan. During the first nine months of the current year, the figure reached nearly 20,000. These figures highlight the considerable potential for further developing tourism ties between the two countries.

Overall, increasing the frequency of flights on the Tashkent–Islamabad route will help strengthen transport connectivity between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, encourage two-way tourist flows, and expand trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

It is worth noting that a total of eight scheduled flights are currently operated between the two countries each week. Of these, four flights operate on the Tashkent–Lahore route, two on the Islamabad–Tashkent route, while services are also operated between Tashkent and Karachi.

With the launch of the additional service, the total number of scheduled flights between Uzbekistan and Pakistan will increase to nine per week.
