Once again, the illegal occupant of Karabakh territories , aggressor on the neighboring Azerbaijan, not sharing the maps of land mines that are taking lives of innocent people, and ally of our enemy country India, one and only Armenia is getting concessions from Pakistan and it is not possible without the green signal from Azerbaijan and Turkiye.
Armenia and Pakistan are taking concrete steps toward opening embassies in Islamabad and Yerevan, according to information obtained by Armenian News. What about the peace deal with Azerbaijan that still needs implementation from Armenian side? Why Pakistan is in a haste to open Embassy? Armenia may have interest for recognition from Pakistan but what is the attraction for Pakistan in Armenia? These questions have no answer from anywhere.
After a non documented peace deal between South Caucasian rivals in Washigton, brokered by President Trump, Armenia and Pakistan formally established diplomatic ties on August 31, that in China at the sidelines of SCO Summit. On the same day, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar met in Tianjin, China, where they signed the joint communiqué.
It was only possible for Armenia to qualify for participation in the Summit only because Pakistan did not raise any objection as both decided to establish ties and Pakistan was ready to recognize Armenia. It was , again , with the consent of Azerbaijan. But what Azerbaijan got in response from the ally of Armenia ?
India opposed Azerbaijan’s full membership of SCO despite President Ilham Aliyev himself was present at the Summit. Azerbaijan’s ally Pakistan facilitated Armenia but Armenian ally India stopped Azerbaijan at this second to UN international organization.
The peace deal in Washington is standing on main point that Armenia will eliminate the provisions in its constitution about its right on Karabakh. This pledge is still to be implemented that seems to be happening only after the next elections in June 2026 and formation of new elected government in Armenia.
Incumbent Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan who struck a verbal deal in Washington with President Ilham Aliyev, said in his statements that Armenia is moving forward towards what was agreed in US. He is a leader who failed against Azerbaijan, in maintaining the occupation and lost a lot. It makes him the most unpopular person in his country. This state of affairs can lead to defeat of his party in next elections. The rival party keeps his promises? No gauranttee is there.
Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the two governments are moving forward following the recent establishment of diplomatic relations.
“By signing a joint communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Pakistan, the governments of Armenia and Pakistan have agreed to exchange representatives and provide each other with necessary support for the purpose of bringing diplomatic relations to life on the basis of reciprocity in accordance with the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and customary international practice. In this context, the public will be duly informed about further developments,” the ministry stated.
Pakistani foreign office has not issued any statement in this regard. The statement from Armenian side came last week but Pakistan is silent so far. Unconfirmed reports are in the media about Armenian interest in Pakistani JF-17 fighter jets. The concessions and haste of Pakistan is because of the probable sale of these jets ?
Pakistan can avoid confirmation of opening of the Embassy in Armenia but on fighter jets’ sale , a clear statement must be issued for two main reasons ;
1- Pakistan can not be a country selling its fighter jets to two rival countries, ethically speaking. Pakistan can lose the love of Azerbaijani people who take Pakistan as their second home.
2- Selling the best fighter jets to the closest friend of enemy country India (if the speculations are true) would be detrimental for our own defence. Armenia can share the technology of the jets with India, already a big supplier of weapons to Armenia.
Finally, Armenia has always supported India on Jammu Kashmir dispute. Armenia is defence ally of India. India is closely monitoring the developments between Armenia and Pakistan.
Indian media is reporting that Armenian relations with Pakistan will not affect its alliance with India. Armenian policy on Pakistan including Jammu Kashmir will remain the same. Then what good Pakistan finds in opening the Embassy?
