A parliamentarian is supposed to be an upright person of character. As he/she is the representative of the public, he/she is expected to speak truth and only truth. But it is all about civilized countries while third world states have more lunatics than the leaders in their parliaments.
I know them very well while working in Islamabad with different newspapers in the last two decades. The latest such incident occured when I called MNA Pullain Baloch regarding MNA of PPP and former Senator Ms Sehar Kamran’s allegation on the Information Minister of insulting her in the meeting of the standing committee at PEMRA House, a couple of days ago.
Pullain Baloch is the chairman of the committee. He convened the meeting and Sehar Kamran asked about the same matter ” Why could the meeting not be convened in 5 months ?
My first question to him was , “Did the Minister insult her or not ?” He replied , No ! ” Tarar did not shout at Sehar nor did he insult her.”
My second question was , ” Why was the meeting not convened in 5 months?” He responded as , ” We had been directed not to convene meetings (in four months that ended in June) for certain reasons including international crisis (may be middle east he wanted to mention) and lock down ( may be when US Iran delegates were coming )
MNA Pullain Baloch said, we were allowed to convene the meetings last month (June). He said , I called the meeting on 02 July but it was postponed (for more than two more weeks).
Minister information was busy apparently inside and outside of the country in the meanwhile.
MNA Baloch avoided more conversation and asked to meet personally in his office at NADRA headquarter Islamabad.
I ended the call but in the meanwhile a thought started jumping in my mind that ,” Why do our parliamentarians sit in places where a commoner can not have easy access ? Why are they afraid of recording the calls by the journalists?
Recording, if anyone does, is not bad , it is good that no one can deny what one has said.
Or, our parliamentarians tell lies ? Or they do not want to speak and reveal the truth? If they do not speak the truth now , when they will …………………………….
