ISLAMABAD: Sports Reporter – 31st Asian Junior Individual Champioinship-2024 (9AJIC-24) kick started at Islamabad on 25 June to be continued to 29 June, 2024. Asian Squash Federation (ASF) has assigned the rights to PSF for hosting the Championship. PSF is organizing AJIC-24 in collaboration with Serena Hotel Islamabad.
The championship includes Boys & Girls U-13, 15, 17 and U-19 age categories. A group of 12 countries have confirmed their participation including Hong Kong, India, Iran, Japan, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Singapore and Sri Lanka.
The organizers Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) General Secretary Air Commodore (R) Amir Nawaz along with Former World Champion Qamar Zaman and Group Captain Irfan Asghar announced that the Asian Junior Boys and Girls Individual Squash Championship 2024 will be held in collaboration with the Asian Squash Federation.
Egyptian Players Winners of CAS-Serena Hotels COMBAXX Squash Championship
The championship will feature 12 countries, including Hong Kong, India, Iran, Japan, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, and Sri Lanka, with a total of 107 men players, 84 women players, 36 officials, and 44 parents participating.
“We have received a very healthy participation of 107 Men players, 84 Women players, 36 officials and 44 parent from all over Asia. We have arranged accommodation for players & officials at PAFSOM, Best Western and IFQ Hotel for the duration of championship, They shared in the press conference at Serena Hotel.
Pakistani Players:
PSF has also entered 24 Men and 19 Women players in various age groups. A well planned training was provided to the players and it is expected that they would give some outstanding performance during championship.
Technical Delegates & Panel of Referees:
Mr Al-Ardy Ally has been nominated as ASF Technical Delegate for AJIC-24. Additionally, WSF International Referee Mr Tahir Khanzada would be the Championship Referee who will have a panel of 23 referees with him to conduct matches at both the venues.

History of Asian Junior Individual:
Pakistan has a sound history of participation in Asian Junior Individual Championship. The 1st Asian Junior Individual was held at Singapore in 1983 in which Umar Hayat from Pakistan won Gold and Ahmed Gul from Pakistan won Silver Medal. AJIC was being played for Boys & Girls U-19 age categories only till year 2009 whereas, from 2010 onwards Boys & Girls categories of U-13, 15 and 17 were also included.
Pakistan has a great history in the game of Squash. Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) under the patronage of Pakistan Air Force has been striving hard for the development of squash at national & international level. Apart from providing basic infrastructure, sports gear and sponsoring for Men & Women players, hosting of major Asian and World level championships is also one of the important aspects PSF is looking after.
A total of 30 AJICs were conducted till year 2023. Pakistani players showed excellent performance and won number of Gold and Silver Medals. Apart from Jansher Khan, Mr Abdul Rasheed, Amjad Khan, Mansoor Zaman, Farhan Mehboob, Amir Atlas, Danish Atlas, Ali Bukhari, Tayyab Aslam, Israr Ahmed and Noor Zaman has also won Asian Junior Championship Titles.
