50 Nigerian Citizen Stranded in Pakistan Left for Home

Islamabad; Nigerian High Commissioner to Pakistan Maj Gen R Ashimiyu Adebayo Olaniyi Oon and staff of the high commission including the Defence Adviser, Consular Officer  were present at Islamabad airport to see off  50 Nigerian citizens for Abuja Nigeria on 18 June 2020 afternoon.  A chartered aircraft operated by TARCO Aviation Co was arranged for the flight.

The High Commissioner, while addressing the citizen, said that at the end of your business activities to Pakistan over 3 months, you are leaving for your country. I am aware of the challenges you must have experienced in the last 3 months as this pandemic caught everybody unprepared. I must commend you for your patience and for adhering strictly to the Covid-19 preventive protocol and guidelines laid down by Pakistan government since the pandemic broke out.

The High Commissioner, on behalf of Gov of Nigeria expressed deep appreciation to Gov and people of Pakistan for their hospitality and accommodating posture in all ramifications which were extended to all Nigerians including our military officers who were on training at the various Pakistan military institutions across the country.

Maj Gen R Ashimiyu Adebayo Olaniyi Oon acknowledged the efforts of Foreign Office of Pakistan in coordinating the movement of his nationals from Lahore,Quetta and Karachi to Islamabad through a special Pakistan Air Force flight arrangement and for granting approval for the evacuation of Nigerians who were stranded in Pakistan.

High Commissioner appreciated the cooperation of Punjab Government for arranging vehicles which conveyed Nigerian nationals stranded in Lahore to Islamabad airport.

“ All this love shown towards Nigeria nationals in Pakistan by various organs of Government of Pakistan is clear indicator of our strong bilateral relations, which we cherish very dearly.
