Government of Pakistan is taking measures to control spread of Omicron virus. Government schools colleges are being checked but private institutions have been left alone with no Sampling or checking whatsoever. Parents are asking if the virus spreads only in government offices and institutes.
A single example is enough to reach the decision to close or check private schools. SLS school situated in G-11/4 has become the hub of the virus where 13 teachers and many children have been victim so far in the latest wave.
9 positive teachers belong to Montessori section while other 4 are among senior staff. Principal Mrs Khursheed and Head Teacher Fayzah are among the victims. Last year two teachers of same schools, Ms Shabnam and Ms Hina died after contracting corona virus.
It is very unfortunate at the part of the school that when any journalist visits the school and inquire about why you are not closing the school, the administration of the school treat them very harshly with no proper satisfactory answer.
This happened with the team of Sama Tv who were there to prepare a package on the information of spread of virus there.
Here it is worth mentioning that the administrations the elite class private schools are using their influence on concerned officers not to do sampling in their schools only to conceal the corona situation in their premises. If corona virus is detected there the schools will be closed that will cause financial damage to the them. They are avoiding sampling for their business and endangering the lives of the staff and the students.
This scribe contacted District Health Officer Islamabad Dr. Zaeem Zia who said that today on 25th January 2022, we will take samples in SLS school. Interestingly and Unfortunately, both, DHO asked this scribe “Do you have the reports of the Positive Teachers?” He may know, as he is DHO of Capital District, that every positive case details is shared with Deputy Commissioner and DHO office. Whenever a positive is detected at any hospital of the Capital city, the report is shared from NCOC to DHO office regularly.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Hamza Shafqaat has also been contacted by some parents. SLS school is adjacent to DC Office in the same sector. DC Hamzah Shafqaat has also assured the parents that the needful will be done
