Unfortunately, another worker from a friendly country, doing his duty in Pakistan is facing the same charges as Sri Lankan Manager of a factory in Sialkot had to face and see the most brutal torture by the mob to the death. Now it is about a Chinese national Mr. Tian, the Manager of heavy transport at Dassu Dam project in Upper Kohistan district of KPK. Mr. Tian is in the custody of police and safe till filing of this report but the phenomenon is on to prove Pakistan a dreadful land for foreigners.
Mr. Tian has been labelled by the local workers of the project as saying some objectionable comments that are not acceptable by the Muslims. This is the same thing that happened with Sri Lankan Manager Priyantha. He was asking for work and the workers alleged him of blasphemy. The rest of the incident is history , disturbing history. Therefore the allegation of Mr. Tian by the local workers should be seen in line with the same incident of Sialkot.
The local workers, what they claimed and what has been registered in FIR, were away from work for Zohar prayers while Mr. Tian showed up there and stated the remarks against the islamic norms. It is not wise to trust what the local workers blame. Mr. Tian should be provided opportunity to explain his side of version. Workers have grudge against the managers who use to ask them to do the work properly. In case of Sialkot, about Sri Lankan Manager, it was proved that the local workers were not happy with Mr. Priyantha and the reason was the same.
It is positive difference than Sialkot that Mr. Tian is alive and local police have controlled the mob of local workers. But Kohistan is more hard in terms of religious sentiments than Sialkot. Therefore, the matter should not be left in the hands of the local police. The people in Kohistan can attack the police station. Government of Pakistan is supposed to shift Mr. Tian to Islamabad as soon as possible. It is advisable for the safety of Mr. Tian to send him back to China.
China is our time tested friend indeed, through thick and thin. Pakistan can not afford such incidents with the guest workers of friendly countries in particular and all countries in general. As long as China is concerned, we need to investigate it either it is a mere local misunderstanding or it is a conspiracy against China Pakistan Friendship and CPEC.
