Islamabad: 14th July 2023: Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that sacrifices rendered by the people of Türkiye on 15th July 2016 to keep alive the flame of democracy is unmatched in annals of political history. He said that the resolve and bravery manifested by common people in Türkiye to save democracy is indicative of the reality that it is people’s will that ultimately decides the fate of the nation.
He also said that both Pakistan and Türkiye enjoy strong bilateral relations deeply rooted in centuries-old traditions and values. He expressed these views while addressing the event of commemoration of 7th anniversary of Democracy and National Unity Day at the Turkish Embassy in Islamabad. The day was celebrated as the Victory of Democracy.
The Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that the People of Pakistan took pride to stand with Turkish Brethren always. He also paid special honour to the sacrifice of over 250 martyrs who paid the ultimate sacrifice for the revival of democracy. He also said that Both houses of Pakistan’s Parliament passed a unanimous resolution expressing solidarity with Türkiye and its people.
The speaker also said that Pakistan and Türkiye always stand with each other in difficult times, especially during natural disasters, both extended their support to each other wholeheartedly. The Speaker also expressed the belief that Türkiye would continue to develop under the leadership of President Mr. Tayyip Erdoğan. He also said that enhancing Parliamentary contacts between both Pakistan and Türkiye pivotal for regional prosperity.
Mr. Dr Mehmet Picaci, Türkiye Ambassador in Pakistan expressed gratitude to Speaker for gracing this event. He said, “Pakistan and Türkiye enjoy close relations deeply rooted in centuries-old values and traditions.” He also said that this day reminded the world about sacrifices offered by common people in Türkiye to save democracy in Türkiye.
