Emir of Qatar Expresses Support for Uzbekistan Afghanistan Pakistan Train Agreement

    Uzbekistan and Qatar on agreed to create a coordination council to implement their bilateral agreements. Moreover Qatar has expressed support for Trilateral Train Agreement between Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan that speaks a lot about the viability and success of this connectivity project that will link two regions of Central Asia and South Asia as envisioned by President of Uzbekistan.
    Here it is worth mentioning that the three countries have already signed the agreement and opened coordinating offices to help timely completion of the project that is considered in Pakistan equal to CPEC. Trans Afghan railway will restore the trade cooperation between the two regions that existed for centuries in the past. This scribe has already penned about the importance of connectivity between the regions through the efforts of President Uzbekistan reciprocated by Pakistan.

    Uzbekistan-Pakistan Trade Shows Encouraging Upward Trajectory in Last Three Years

    A statement was issued in this regard by the Uzbek presidency following a meeting between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and visiting Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in the Uzbek capital Tashkent.
    It was shared in the statement that In order to ensure the timely implementation of agreements, the leaders of Uzbekistan and Qatar advocated the creation of a Coordination Council at the level of the heads of the foreign affairs departments of the two countries.
    The statement said the two leaders discussed issues related to further strengthening political dialogue and expanding trade, economic, investment, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.
    It further said President Mirziyoyev and Sheikh Tamim noted the intensive contacts and exchanges at all levels between Uzbekistan and Qatar, stating the volume of mutual trade is growing and that the implementation of major projects has begun “with the participation of leading Qatari companies.

    A Leap Forward in Relations between Two Emerging Economies of Middle East and Central Asia

    Particular attention is paid to promoting new joint investment projects, in particular in the fields of green energy, industry, agriculture, infrastructure development, the banking and financial sector, education, healthcare, and tourism.
    Ways to further expand cooperation in the field of transport and logistics were considered during the meeting, adding that the Qatari side particularly expressed support for the Trans-Afghan Railway construction project.
    The Qatari emir arrived in Tashkent on 19 Dec 2023 and participated in a ceremony to award the International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award, an annual award presented to those contributing to the global campaign against corruption.
