Pakistan and Australia to Further Enhance and Strengthen Security and Defense Cooperation

Rawalpindi, 19 May 2024: General Angus J. Campbell, Chief of Defence Forces Australia, paid a visit to General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS), today. During their meeting, they engaged in discussions on matters of bilateral professional interest, with a particular focus on the global and regional security environment and cooperation between the two Armed Forces. Both parties expressed a mutual desire to further expand military-to-military cooperation.
The Australian Chief of Defence Forces expressed his admiration for the high professional standards maintained by the Pakistan Armed Forces, their notable achievements in the fight against terrorism, and their continued efforts to promote regional peace and stability.
General Angus J. Campbell, Chief of Defence Forces Australia, who is on official visit to Pakistan for 13th Round of Pakistan – Australia, Defence and Security Talks and 10th Round of 1.5 Track Security Dialogue, called on General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, at Joint Staff Headquarters, Rawalpindi today.

During the meeting, the two senior military leaders engaged in comprehensive discussions on defence and security cooperation, regional dynamics, and global security challenges.
Both sides reiterated the resolve to further strengthen and enhance security and defence cooperation between the two countries.
The Australian dignitaries remained appreciative of the high professional standards of Pakistan Armed Forces, their achievements in fight against terrorism and continued efforts for regional peace and stability.
Earlier upon arrival at Joint Staff Headquarters, General Angus J. Campbell, was presented “Guard of Honour” by a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent.
