ISLAMABAD : 05 November 2024 – This morning two Chinese nationals were injured in Karachi as a result of a firing incident following a dispute with a private guard in a factory Liberty Mills . The injured were immediately taken to hospital and are under treatment. Spokesperson foreign office has extended sympathies to the families of the injured and offer prayers for their swift recovery.
“According to preliminary investigation, the guard opened fire after a heated argument with the Chinese nationals, leaving two Chinese citizens injured,” Deputy Inspector General of Police South Syed Asad Raza told media.
They were taken to Liaquat National Hospital in the commercial hub. A hospital spokesperson said the two were being treated, and one of them was in critical condition. Authorities are not sharing the identity of the Chinese.
The incident is under investigation. Pakistan remains resolute in bringing to justice the responsible individual. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in close contact with the Ministry of Interior and the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad.
Foreign Office has issued a statement that reads ,Pakistan and China are close partners and iron-brothers, united by a bond of mutual respect and shared destiny.
Pakistan reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the safety and security of Chinese nationals, projects, and institutions in Pakistan.
The security guard has been arrested and taken to police station for further investigation. The latest incident is being seen as personal dispute and not terrorist attack but it can affect the already tense situation between the two countries after the remarks of DPM/FM, Ambassador’s negation, Foreign Offices statement on Ambassador’s remarks.
Two Chinese were killed in Karachi at the airport premises in first week of Oct. Before that 5 Chinese lost lives in Besham KPK few months ago. The consecutive attacks on Chinese nationals has brought the friends sweeter than honey to a highly bitter position where China is supposed to take the steps it avoided in the past.
