LAHORE : After Balochistan and KPK, the terrorists have added to the targets , Punjab that was safe so far. The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab on Friday foiled a major terror bid and arrested a suicide bomber of a banned outfit in Lahore.
CTD carried out an intelligence-based operation near Barki Road and arrested a suicide bomber after heavy exchange of fire. Another terrorist managed to escape from the scene.
A CTD spokesperson informed that, suicide vest, safety fuss wire and explosives were also recovered from the arrested terrorists.
He added that the operation successfully foiled a potential terror plot that could have posed a significant threat to the security of the city. The prompt action by the CTD and intelligence agencies prevented a major incident, he noted.
PESHAWAR : In a bomb blast in the vicinity of Urmur Police Station on Saturday, Mufti Muneer Shakir succumbed to the fatal injuries he received.
Three other people were also injured in the incident who have been shifted to the local hospital. The police said the incident happened a few minutes before iftar.
After the blast, rescue teams, police officers and CTD officials reached the spot and ordered the preliminary investigation.
Mohammad Asim, a spokesman for the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH), said: “Mufti Shakir was brought to LRH in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries,” adding that the hospital was in the process of handing over the body to his heirs.
CM Ali Amin Gandapur condemned the explosion and sought a report from the police authorities. He directed authorities to carry out the “necessary steps” to arrest the suspects behind the blast.
PESHAWAR : In Takhi checkpost attack, a policeman was martyred. Militants armed with sophisticated weapons attacked the checkpost, which was repelled by the police in a timely action. In the attack, a policeman embraced martyrdom.
In Khazana police station attack, a policeman was injured. With a befitting response, terrorists escaped. The injured was shifted to hospital. Following these attacks, security has been tightened in the province.
MOHMAND, KPK : On 14-15 March 2025, 09 Khwarij were killed in two separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.
On reported presence of Khwarij, an intelligence based operation was conducted by the Security Forces in Mohmand District. During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarijs’ location, resultantly, 7 khwarij were sent to hell.
However, during intense fire exchange, 2 brave sons of soil, Havildar Muhammad Zahid (age: 37 years, resident of District Malakand) and Sepoy Aftab Ali Shah (age: 26 years, resident of District Chitral) having fought gallantly, rendered the ultimate sacrifice and embraced shahadat.
DERA ISMAIL KHAN : In another encounter that took place in general area Maddi, Dera Ismail Khan District, fire exchange took place between own troops and khwarij. Resultantly, 2 khwarij were effectively neutralized.
Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities.
Sanitization operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Kharji found in the area as the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country.
KARAK, KPK : Police on Saturday night thwarted terrorist attacks on two police stations and a Sui gas office, Dunya News reported.
According to Karak DPO Shahbaz Elahi, in the shootouts, a security personnel was martyred and a terrorist killed. He said the militants attacked two police stations – Takt Nasrati Police Station and Khuram Police Station.

The militants were equipped with heavy weapons. Police foiled their attacks with timely befitting response and killed a terrorist, the DPO said.
In an attack on Sui gas office, a security personnel was martyred. The attackers had also taken a security personnel hostage, who was later rescued by the law enforcers.
Police have stepped up security in Karak. The situation is in control. A search operation has been launched to hunt terrorists who fled towards mountains, the police officer said.
