Remarks by Ambassador of Ukraine @ “Solidarity with Ukraine “Event @ Embassy of Poland, Islamabad, 11 February 2026
*Four years after Russia launched its full-scale invasion, Ukraine continues to defend its freedom, independence and sovereignty in full accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter.
* Russia’s war of aggression has caused catastrophic human losses. Russian losses in killed and wounded now exceed one million.
* Russia’s territorial gains remain minimal and have come at an enormous human cost.
* The driving force behind this war is the Kremlin’s obsession with imperial greatness and its complete disregard for human life. Russian citizens are paying with their lives for the ideological illusions of their leadership.
* Ukraine is paying an enormous price: tens of thousands of lives lost, children abducted, millions of refugees and internally displaced persons, and massive destruction of civilian and economic infrastructure — including Russian large-scale attacks on energy facilities that have triggered humanitarian crises in major cities.
* Ukraine seeks peace and remains open to diplomacy, as repeatedly stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. However, peace through diplomacy requires political will and readiness to compromise from both sides — conditions that are currently absent on the Russian side.
* Draft peace plans that legitimize Russian occupation, annexation or territorial concessions at Ukraine’s expense are perceived by Ukrainians as appeasement of the aggressor — with grave consequences for Ukraine and international security.
* Support for Ukraine is not charity; it is a rational investment in shared security. By containing an aggressive and terrorist regime, Ukraine is making a vital contribution to European and global stability.
* Russia is waging a colonial war in the 21st century while cynically exploiting anti-colonial rhetoric, especially in its outreach to the Global South. Discussing anti-colonialism or global and regional security with an aggressor state is like discussing vegetarianism with a man-eating bear.
* We do not ask nations that have declared their neutrality to choose between East and West — neutrality between power blocs is understandable. However, we urge them not to remain passive observers of aggression and war crimes. Those who seek peace for their own countries cannot remain neutral in this matter.
* Pakistan has consistently supported the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity and has never endorsed war. Ukraine is grateful to Pakistan for its principled position and its commitment to a just and lasting peace.
* We count on Pakistan’s active role as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and on its international authority in advancing a just peace in Ukraine.
* Ukraine aspires to become a part of a united Europe — a normative alternative to imperialism and autocracy — and sees itself as a pillar of Europe’s future security, strength and resilience.
Joint Statement by the Delegation of the European Union, the Team Europe in Pakistan and Embassy of Ukraine, to Condemn Russian Aggression and Reaffirm Support for Ukraine
Today we strongly condemn the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine, marking four years since the full-scale invasion began.
We stand united in our unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the right of its people to live in peace.
Russia’s continued attacks, particularly the deliberate targeting of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure during this harsh winter, are unacceptable and constitute severe violations of international humanitarian law.
These actions demonstrate a callous disregard for civilian lives and a clear contradiction of any Russian pretense to negotiate in good faith.
We unequivocally condemn Russia’s war crimes and hold them accountable for their actions.
To counter this aggression, EU Member States have allocated a further €90 billion in support for Ukraine, reinforcing their dedication to stand with the Ukrainian people. The EU is also actively working to increase pressure on Russia through further sanctions.
We reiterate that any path to peace requires Russia to engage in serious negotiations directly with Ukraine.
We welcome the ongoing US-led peace efforts negotiations and we remain open to dialogue as part of broader international efforts to end the Russian aggression. Russia must give up its maximalist demands and withdraw its forces.
We call on Russia to immediately cease hostilities, withdraw its troops, and engage in meaningful peace negotiations.
