The heads of Iran’s executive, legislative, and judicial branches mounted a joint backlash against US President Donald Trump, condemning his remarks about alleged divisions between extremists and moderates in Iran as baseless and provocative.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Speaker of the Parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, and Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei took to social media on Thursday to convey a powerful message to Trump and express a common theme of national unity and defiance.

In their statements, they dismissed the US president’s classification of Iranian officials to extremists and moderates, asserting that all citizens in Iran identify as “Iranians” and “revolutionaries.”

“In Iran there are no ‘hardliners’ or ‘moderates’. We are all Iranians and revolutionaries. With ironclad unity of nation and state and obedience to the Leader, we will make the aggressor regret,” Pezeshkian wrote on X.

“One God, one nation, one leader, one path; victory for Iran, dearer than life,” he added.

Qalibaf also released a matching statement in a coordinated effort to showcase unity across Iran’s three branches of power.

The judiciary chief echoed the view, using a stronger language.

“Despicable US president should know that terms like ‘hardliner’ and ‘moderate’ are meaningless constructs in Western political discourse. In Iran, all groups stand united in full alignment with the Leader,” the top judge wrote.

The latest development came after Trump announced an extension of the ceasefire in the war against Iran, claiming the move was partly “based on the fact that the Government of Iran is seriously fractured, not unexpectedly so”, Press TV reported.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei praised the powerful effect of national unity, saying the Iranian people’s solidarity has significantly undermined enemy ranks.

“Due to the strange unity created among compatriots, a fracture has occurred in the enemy,” the Leader stated in a message published on the X network on Thursday, highlighting how this unprecedented solidarity has disrupted the calculations of those seeking to undermine the Islamic Republic.

Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized the need to express gratitude for this divine blessing through concrete actions, affirming that such efforts will render national cohesion “greater and more steely,” while leaving the enemies “more wretched and diminished.”

The Leader also drew attention to the enemy’s ongoing psychological warfare, warning, “The enemy’s media operations, by targeting the minds and psyches of the people, intend to undermine national unity and security; may our negligence not allow this sinister intent to come to fruition.”

Ayatollah Khamenei’s message comes at a critical juncture as the Islamic Republic stands resilient against multifaceted aggressions, including sanctions, threats, and propaganda campaigns orchestrated by the United States, the Zionist regime and their Western allies, Press TV reported.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian described the US’ bad faith, naval blockade of Iran, and threats as the main barriers to genuine negotiations, stressing that Iran has always welcomed dialogue and agreement.

In a message posted on his X account, Pezeshkian reiterated Iran’s longstanding position in favor of diplomacy while criticizing the US’ contradictory behavior and insincere rhetoric.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always welcomed, and continues to welcome, dialogue and agreement,” the president said.

“Bad faith, blockade, and threats are the main obstacles to real negotiations. The world is witnessing your deceptive verbosity and the contradiction between your claims and actions,” he added, addressing the US officials.

Iran’s UN envoy said Tehran is prepared to enter a new round of Pakistani-mediated negotiations with the US once Washington lifts its naval blockade, noting that signals of a possible shift have already been received.

Saeed Iravani, Iran’s permanent representative to the UN, told Rudaw in New York on Tuesday that Tehran has received signals from the US indicating a willingness to lift the naval blockade.

“We have received some signs that the US is ready to break (the naval blockade), and as soon as they do, I think the next round of negotiations will take place in Islamabad,” Iravani said, noting that Tehran has set this as a precondition for the second-round engagement.

Asked whether a new military escalation with Washington may be on the horizon, the Iranian envoy said, “It depends on them (the US).”

“They initiated the war against us and we are ready (for any escalation). And if they want to sit at the negotiating table, discuss, and find a political solution, they will find us ready,” Iravani added.
