Kazakhstan Contributes $ 1 Million to Pakistan Education Endowment Fund as Instructed by President Tokayev

Islamabad, July 3, 2026 – Following the State Visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, H.E. Mr. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to Islamabad in February 2026, the President instructed the Government of Kazakhstan to allocate US$1 million to the Pakistan Education Endowment Fund (PAK-EEF) under the Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The official ceremony, organized by the Pakistani side, was attended by the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Yerzhan Kistafin, Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training of Pakistan, Ms. Wajiha Qamar, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, and other government institutions of Pakistan.
In her remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of PAK-EEF, Ms. Sobia Sohail, expressed sincere appreciation to the leadership of Kazakhstan for the generous assistance and announced the Fund’s intention to implement a number of educational initiatives in cooperation with higher education institutions of Kazakhstan.
These initiatives will include academic programmes and professional development opportunities for Pakistani students, as well as enhanced cooperation between the universities of Kazakhstan and Pakistan.
Ambassador Y.Kistafin reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to further expanding bilateral cooperation with Pakistan in the fields of education, academic exchanges, human resource development, and the advancement of human capital. He emphasized that investment in education represents an investment in the shared peaceful, sustainable, and prosperous future of the peoples of Kazakhstan and Pakistan.
State Minister Ms. Wajiha Qamar also expressed gratitude to the people of Kazakhstan and announced the intention to dispatch a delegation to Astana in the near future to hold detailed consultations and prepare a roadmap for the implementation of the agreed initiatives.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the parties agreed to facilitate direct engagement between funds and leading universities of Kazakhstan in order to identify concrete areas of cooperation and implement mutually beneficial educational projects.
