Government of Pakistan bans Social Media in the country for 5 hours from 11-30 noon to 4 afternoon on 16 April 2021 after facing difficult situation at the hands of the protestors who were demanding that French Ambassador should be expelled as per agreement the Government had signed earlier but violated twice.
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority immediately closed down Face Book, WhatsApp, Twitter, Youtube that left millions of social media users shocked for a while as the Government itself is asking the public and the gov workers to work 50 % from home to keep spread of COVID-19.
Tehreek e Labbaik workers were out on the streets forcing the government to close down all major cities for two long days and nights. TeL was mobilizing its followers through the same social media.
Government has issued a statement that the social media has been banned for few hours only but it seems hard that the ban will be lifted after the afternoon. Thus the Pakistanis are facing social media closure after bearing the closure of the cities at the beginning of the holy month of Ramzan.
