Middle East Monitoring Desk IslamabadIranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi dismissed speculation that Tehran refused mediation by Pakistan to end the war imposed by the US and Israel, saying Iran’s position has been misrepresented and emphasizing that any agreement must guarantee a conclusive and lasting resolution.
In a post on his X account on April 4, Araqchi rejected claims circulating in US media suggesting that Iran had declined to engage in mediation efforts led by Pakistan.
He expressed appreciation for Islamabad’s diplomatic role while stressing that Tehran’s priority is securing firm and durable terms to end the war of aggression, which has been ongoing since February 28.
“Iran’s position is being misrepresented by US media,” Araqchi wrote.
“We are deeply grateful to Pakistan for its efforts and have never refused to go to Islamabad. What we care about are the terms of a conclusive and lasting END to the illegal war that is imposed on us,” the Iranian foreign minister explained.
“Long live Pakistan,” he added.
