Abdul Akbar is New Press Secretary of Prime Minister of Pakistan

A senior officer of the information group Mr. Abdul Akbar has been posted as Press Secretary to Prime Minister by the Government of Pakistan. He carries a vast experience in media and public relations. His appointment has been welcomed by the press and media practitioners collectively as pleasant development at PM Office to promote the narrative of the government. We at the Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors (CPNE) assure him of our full support in the performance of his duties at his new responsibilities. 

Abdul Akbar served last 11 years in brotherly country Tukiye as Press Attache. He returned to Pakistan in Nov 2021. During his tenure in Turkiye many initiatives of public diplomacy were planned and implemented. They include annual Jinnah Young Writers Awards, Chughtai Art Awards, Pakistan Mango Festival, Pakistan Food Festival and many others.
