Islamabad; 15 July 2020 – Ambassador of Qatar to Pakistan, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrehman bin Faisal Al-Thani, called on the President Dr. Arif Alvi, at Aiwan-e-Sadr, today.
The President congratulated him on assuming the assignment and said that Pakistan attached significant importance to its ties with Qatar and wanted to transform the existing relations into a robust political and economic partnership.
He informed the ambassador that tremendous potential of cooperation existed between the two countries in various fields that needed to be capitalized upon for the mutual benefit of the two sides. While talking to the ambassador, the President said that Pakistan offered enormous investment opportunities and Qatar needs to take advantage of the emerging opportunities in Pakistan.
The Ambassador extended his sincere gratitude and great appreciation to the President of Pakistan for receiving him and accepting his credentials as Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the brotherly Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Ambassador conveyed the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, and His Highness’ wishes for His Excellency the president’s health and well-being, and
for the prosperity, development, health and wellness of the brotherly people of Pakistan.
Ambassador said that the State of Qatar and Pakistan enjoy distinguished historical relations with deep roots and a steady step forward, and we appreciate the role of Pakistan in the comprehensive progress witnessed by the State of Qatar.
” Our relations have been strengthened over time thanks to mutual interest and eagerness, and through bilateral visits at the highest levels, especially the visit of His Highness / Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the state of Qatar, to Islamabad during 2019, which witnessed signing a number of Agreements to strengthen existing ties of cooperation in many areas.This visit gave bilateral relations new impetus in all aspects, particularly in the economic, political, social as well as military fields.”Ambassador noted at this occasion.
Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrehman bin Faisal Al-Thani said that It was a great honor to represent my country in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and to work with the Pakistani government and people in strengthening the existing close ties as directed by His Highness The Amir Sheikh / Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and by His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh / Khalid bin Khalifa Al Thani, and His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh / Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani.
President apprised the ambassador of the atrocities against Muslims in Indian Occupied Kashmir, and expressed the hope that Qatar would take full cognizance of Indian brutalities against Muslims because the situation in Kashmir posed a serious threat to regional peace and security. He also urged the International community, including OIC and Islamic countries, to play its role in to take practical steps to grant Kashmiris their right to self-determination, and to stop India from the continuing brutalization of the Kashmiri people.
The President also appreciated the role of Qatar in hosting the Afghan peace talks. He expressed the hope that all parties to the agreement would abide by its provisions and turn the dream of peace in Afghanistan into reality. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for promotion of peace and stability in Afghanistan.
The Ambassador said that his country wanted to further expand bilateral ties with Pakistan and was willing to invest in Gawadar port. He also appreciated Pakistan’s continuous support in hosting Afghan refugees.
