Quetta: Former Chief Minister Balochistan and President Balochistan National Party Sardar Akhtar Mengal has hinted at boycott of Election 2024 due to persecution of his candidates in shape of rejection of their nomination papers, registration of FIRs and other pressure tactics by what he said state organs. In a press conference here on 01 Jan 2023, Akhtar Mengal termed Election 2018 as Faizabadi Election (for Gen Faiz) and Election 2024 as Faisalabadi Election (COAS Gen Asim Munir is from Faisalabad). He said Election 2024 will be the worst Selection that is not acceptable for us. He made it clear that BNP will not follow the desires of state agencies like ISI and MI.
Akhtar Mengal files his nomination papers from 4 constituencies in his province and his papers have been rejected from all. He shared that BNP candidates filed papers in 14 National Assembly constituencies and 35 in Provincial seats. 12 papers have been rejected so far.
Akhtar Mengal said :
The only transparent election in Pakistan was held in 1971 and power was not handed over to majority party Awami League that resulted into secession of East Pakistan into Bangladesh. But they have not learnt from the past and made Balochistan their laboratory for experiments. Chicks (fake leadership) are brought by them. His Master’s Voice are prepared to rule Balochistan. Establishment hands over the power to political parties with condition ” Pakistan is yours but Balochistan is ours”.
Our associates are being allured and pressurized by carrot and stick to divide us. Our workers are missing. Malik Naseer, Haji Basit, Ahmad Nawaz, Waheed Lehri, Ibrahim Lehri, Maqbool Lehri, Nizam Baloch, Agha Qalander are among the candidates whose nomination papers have been rejected for nothing. FIRs are registered against office bearers of our party in different districts.
They are engineering new political parties in Balochistan as if this province is their laboratory for their experiments. Fake leaders are being created like chicks of hens but people know them. The establishment has done the same in the past and failed again and again.
We will file appeals against the rejection of our papers. We will go to high court and supreme court. If we could not get the justice, we will go to the court of the public.
If the mandate of the public of Balochistan is hijacked , there will no one sacred either it is establishment or uniform. Unknown people are knocking at the doors of the citizens of Quetta. They ask who will you cost your votes. What is this? He alleged the unknown persons as agencies’ personnel.
Akhtar Mengal’s papers have been rejected because he has Aqama (foreign residence permit). To a question in this regard , he said , the papers of another person with same Aqama (Nawaz Sharif)have been accepted. He said , ” I have this Aqama for many years. My papers were accepted in 2018 with this Aqama.”
