The wars except WW1 WW2 have never been so complicated and multidimensional with regards to parties and impacts in the world as is the Gulf War (initiated by two aggressor countries). Here one country suppressed with US (one aggressor) sanctions is fighting back a defensive war only and the most of the countries in and around the region find themselves in a fix on which side to go and what to state.
Still few nations are quite clear in their stance on the crisis and Azerbaijan is one of them. Pakistan is at the center to defuse the tensions and bring the parties to the negotiating table to avoid more destruction and human catastrophe.
Azerbaijan , Iran and Pakistan are continuously in contact with one another on mutual and multilateral forums to seek a solution to the conflict as soon as possible before the Gulf crisis Engulfs the regions and the world.
Both countries Azerbaijan Pakistan kept themselves away from taking any side and advocating for peace, implementation of UN Charter and International Law only. Both states sent supportive relief for the victims of strikes in the shape of human assistance.
Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian, having a regular engagement with Azerbaijani and Pakistani leadership has time and again appreciated the governments of both countries. In a latest development he thanked President Ilahm Aliyev for the sympathy and support expressed by the government and people of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Pezeshkian shared on his X, that friendly and brotherly nations rediscover one another during times of hardship and adversity, following a conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
Pezeshkian added that friendly and brotherly nations support each other in difficult moments, emphasizing that the deeper the civilizational roots of relations between countries, the stronger and more enduring their ties become.
The two presidents discussed issues of mutual interest as well as the recent regional developments on 02 April 2026.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with the President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian a week ago.
He reiterated Pakistan’s strong condemnation of the continued Israeli attacks on Iran, including the latest attacks on civilian infrastructure. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity and support for the brave people of Iran in these challenging times. He also offered condolences on the loss of over 1,900 precious lives and prayed for the recovery of the injured and displaced.
He also apprised the Iranian President of the diplomatic outreach efforts currently being undertaken by him, the Deputy Prime Minister, as well as Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, to engage the U.S., brotherly Gulf, and Islamic countries, to create a conducive environment for peace talks.He assured him that Pakistan would continue to play a constructive role in bringing peace and stability to the region.
But there are two other countries in the region who, according to Iran, owe clarification on their possible involvement in complicity with the aggressors.
Following the downing of an unmanned aerial vehicle over Shiraz, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson pointed to possible involvement of ” two unnamed regional countries” in US-Israeli aggression against Iran, calling for clarification from the states in question.
Spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Esmaeil Baqaei on Friday shared on his X account a photo of the drone that was shot down over Shiraz.
He emphasized that the incident may serve as further evidence of direct participation and active complicity by certain regional actors in US-Israeli crime of aggression and war crimes against Iran.
“This drone was downed by our brave armed forces over the beloved city of Hafiz and Saadi, Shiraz,” he said.
“It could be another (hard) evidence of direct participation & active complicity of some States of the region in US/Israel crime of aggression and war crimes against Iran,” Baqaei added.
“Clarification is needed by either of the TWO STATES of the region that are the users of this drone!” the Iranian spokesman noted.

Here it is worth mentioning that Pakistan has very close relations with these TWO STATES and the foreign minister of one among two was in Islamabad for talks on the possibility of negotiations on the Gulf crisis. The second state was not represented in Islamabad Quad talks but everyone knows about it.
This state of affairs has added to the already complex situation in the region. Trump’s statement about one of these two states proves the Iranian reservations are factual. Pakistan was expected to be able to do something in this regard but the latest brief of DPM/FM Ishaq Dar to some selected tv anchorpersons reveals that the Quad Talks were not successful and he looked depressed and worried about what more the region has to see and bear.
Iran and the US have shared their conditions to start negotiations only , let the ceasefire alone. Iran deserves an apology at least for the killing of her political leadership and children in the schools. Iran is right to seek an assurance on no attacks in future. But the question , to which no one has any answer, is, who can give assurance of Trump who is the known most unpredictable President in the whole world.
There is only one way to achieve peace or ceasefire and that is accountability of aggressors, Trump and Netanyahu in their own countries by their parliaments and people. The process is on and soon it can bring positive results.
