Islamabad: November 24, 2024 – Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Additional Foreign Secretary (Europe) Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Belarus, Sajjad Haider Khan warmly welcomed a 68-member high-level delegation from Belarus upon their arrival in Islamabad.
The delegation included Belarus’ Foreign Minister, Minister for Energy Minister, Minister for Justice, Minister for Transport, Minister for Natural Resources, Minister for Emergency Situations, and Chairman of the Military Industry Committee.
The delegation arrived when Pakistan itself is coping with emergency like situation because of the march of political opposition PTI towards Islamabad for release of their leader Imran Khan. Therefore presence of a Minister of Emergency in the Belarusian delegation has been noting especially and interestingly.
All major cities and roads have been closed for at least 3 days in Pakistan to stop the march from reaching the Capital city Islamabad. President Belarus Mr. Lukashenko is due on 25 Nov in the same situation that containers on highways and roads all around and inside of Islamabad as if the city is a sea port.
The ways from both airports of Islamabad have been blocked by containers. Interior Minister had to welcome the delegation for the same reason to transport the delegation from the airport to red zone Islamabad.
43 prominent business personalities from Belarus are also part of the delegation.
The Interior Minister also met with Foreign Minister of Belarus, Maxim Ryzhenkov. He welcomed the delegation to Islamabad and expressed that the government and people of Pakistan are eagerly awaiting the visit of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that the president’s visit is crucial in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. Interior Minister stated that Pakistan greatly values its relations with Belarus and aims to enhance cooperation in various sectors.
He highlighted that the said visit will further promote cooperation between the two countries in industry, trade, and other sectors.
