Sialkot, 11 November 2022 — The Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad, together with UN Women Pakistan and the Baidarie Sialkot Foundation, concluded the beauty skills training programme and handed over beauty kits to 10 women beauticians who completed the training and wished to start home-based beauty services (home salons) to earn income while caring for their families.
This initiative is part of a broader training programme organized by UN Women and the Baidarie Sialkot Foundation, with support from the Royal Thai Embassy. More than 70 women successfully completed training in hairstyling, skincare, makeup, and home salon management, and around 10 participants expressed their intention to establish their own home salons.
During the opening session, the Ambassador noted:
“Women are a powerful force in social development. When women can earn their own income, they gain confidence, freedom, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to their families and communities. Beauty services are an ideal profession — they require skill, but once trained, women can work from home with flexibility and choice. Income brings confidence, and confidence brings independence.”
Ms. Jacqui Ketunati of UN Women Pakistan added that “investing in skills and tools helps women grow into leaders and drivers of economic change in their communities.”
This project addresses cultural barriers that make it difficult for many women to work outside the home by equipping them with skills that allow flexible, home-based work.
Graduates can start a home salon or work in a beauty establishment, creating a sustainable livelihood according to their needs. The Royal Thai Embassy remains committed to expanding economic opportunities for women in Pakistan.
