ISLAMABAD: How is the international day of women for the women of Iran? Their children were martyred in the schools. Their fathers, brothers, sons and husbands were facing aggression initiated by US and Israel without any provocation and during the dialogue to reach an agreement for peace.

Statement of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Islamabad on International Women’s Day 8 March, 2026
On March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day, we pay tribute to the honorable status, courage, and sacrifice of the brave and selfless Iranian women who were martyred during the unjust and brutal aggression carried out by the US and Israeli regime.
At a time when pre-arranged negotiations were being pursued with goodwill and seriousness by the Iranian side, an unprovoked act of aggression took place on 28 February 2026. Without any prior notice, the US and Israeli forces heartlessly bombarded a girls’ school in Minab, Iran, in the early hours of the school day, resulting in the martyrdom of more than 170 innocent schoolgirls.
Despite Iran’s firm determination and sincere efforts toward diplomacy, an agreement had already been within reach. Unfortunately, through the instigation and conspiracy of the Zionist regime, the US President plunged the region into a devastating war.
This aggression led to the martyrdom of more than one thousand innocent civilians, including women and girls, and reduced hundreds of protected civilian installations — including hospitals, schools, residential compounds, Red Crescent centers, and public service facilities — to ruins.
Throughout the turbulent history of Iran, brave Iranian women have stood patiently and steadfastly alongside men in the nation’s struggles, striving for the pride, dignity, and independence of their beloved country.
With remarkable resilience and perseverance, they have raised generations who today stand as courageous defenders of their homeland.
With the grace of Allah Almighty, the Iranian nation will continue to resist oppression and injustice, and will remain steadfast in safeguarding its dignity, sovereignty, and independence.
