President Asif Ali Zardari conferred Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) upon Admiral Dr. Muhammad Ali, Chief of the Indonesian Navy, recognising his contribution to the promotion of relations between the two navies, at a Special Investiture Ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr .
The President has conferred the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) upon Admiral Dr. Muhammad Ali in recognition of his efforts to foster relations between the two navies. The award was presented during a special ceremony held at the Presidency on Monday. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf was also present.
Prior to the ceremony, Admiral Dr. Muhammad Ali, accompanied by Ambassador Chandra W. Sukotjo, paid a courtesy call on President Zardari to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional developments.
The President remarked that Pakistan and Indonesia share enduring, fraternal ties and emphasized the need to further strengthen cooperation between their respective navies.
He noted the immense potential for mutual development in the blue economy and the maritime sector, stressing the need to harness it effectively.
He also appreciated Indonesia’s regular participation in Pakistan Navy exercises. Ambassador Lieutenant General (Retd) Chandra W. Sukotjo accompanied him.
Admiral Dr Muhammad Ali, Chief of the Indonesian Navy, called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF) at GHQ, Rawalpindi.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security and bilateral defence cooperation were discussed. The two sides expressed satisfaction over the existing military-to-military relations and reaffirmed their resolve to further strengthen cooperation, particularly in the domains of professional training, defence collaboration and joint exercises.
COAS & CDF reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening its longstanding and brotherly relations with Indonesia, significantly in the defence and security domains.
Admiral Dr Muhammad Ali appreciated the professionalism of Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their contributions towards regional peace and stability.
Admiral Dr Muhammad Ali, Chief of the Indonesian Navy called on Admiral Naveed Ashraf, NI, NI (M), T Bt, Chief of the Naval Staff at Naval Headquarters, Islamabad. Upon arrival at Naval Headquarters, the dignitary was presented Guard of Honour and laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada Monument.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional maritime security and bilateral naval cooperation were discussed. Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to enhance cooperation through training, reciprocal visits and joint naval exercises. The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan Navy’s efforts towards regional maritime security.
During his visit to Karachi, Admiral Dr Muhammad Ali also interacted with Pakistan Navy Field Commanders, Managing Director Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works, visited Pakistan Navy Fleet Unit and Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC). The visit will further strengthen Pakistan-Indonesia defence and naval cooperation.
