Joint working group of Pakistan, Iran and Iraq to facilitate Pilgrims

Tehran: A trilateral conference of Interior Ministers of Pakistan, Iran and Iraq was held today in Tehran. During the conference, It was agreed to take all possible steps to facilitate pilgrims visiting Iran and Iraq.

It was also decided to form a joint working group of Pakistan, Iran and Iraq to facilitate pilgrims. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, while addressing the trilateral conference, thanked Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni for organizing a trilateral conference to resolve the problems of pilgrims at the request of Pakistan.

He said that pilgrims going to Iraq and Iran are very important for us and the trilateral conference will lead towards provision of more facilities to them.

Mohsin Naqvi congratulated Government of Iran and the Iranian Interior Minister on the glorious victory in the war and said that Pakistan unequivocally condemned the attack on Iran and fully supported Iran’s right to defend itself. He said that during the war, the Pakistani people stood with their Iranian brothers. Headed that Pakistan and Iran are brothers and will always be brothers.

He stated that the Prime Minister of Pakistan and high-ranking Officials played a very active and positive role in the war. He said that Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Amiri Moqadam is here and he is a witness to this. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi highlighted that everyone knows that millions of pilgrims visit Iraq on Arbaeen and commended Iraqi Interior Minister and the Ministry of Interior for taking special care of them.

He said that he salutes the Iraqi Interior Ministry for handling the pilgrims in the best possible manner. He assured that Pakistan assures that all possible support with regards to the pilgrims. He said that after January 1, 2026, Pakistani pilgrims will not be able to visit Iraq individually, pilgrims will be able to go to Iraq only under the Ground organizers program.

He said that the process of registration of Zaireen Group Oganizers has been started. He added that the organizers will be responsible for the return of all pilgrims going to Iraq. He stated that only those people will be able to go to Iraq individually to whom the embassy will issue special visas, the Group organizers system will eliminate the trend of illegal people going to Iraq and overstaying there.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that Iraq and Iran are also supporting this new system, as we will have to ensure collective measures to stop those who go to Iraq illegally and overstay there.

He thanked the both Governments of Iraq and Iran for taking care of Pakistani pilgrims and said that taking care of millions of Zaireen is a big challenge and both interior ministers are fulfilling this responsibility in an effective manner.

Mohsen Naqvi said that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei stood firm during the war and led with courage. He congratulated Ayatollah Khamenei and the Iranian people on the great victory.

Deputy Interior Minister of Iran Ali Akbar Pour-Jamshidian, Senior Advisor to the Iranian Interior Minister Nader Yar Ahmadi, Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Amiri Moghadam, Pakistani Ambassador to Iran Mohammad Mudassar Tipu, Interior Secretary Pakistani Muhammad Khurram Agha and senior officials of the Iraqi Ministry of Interior also attended the trilateral conference.
