Kazakhstan & Azerbaijan Strengthening Dynamic Partnership to Multifaceted Bilateral Economic Cooperation

    Two emerging economies of Central Asia and South Caucasus , Republic of Azerbaijan and Republic of Kazakhstan are strengthening their already existing close partnership and developing dynamic cooperation. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President Ilham Aliyev held extensive talks in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. President Takayev arrived here on 11 March on the invitation of President Ilham.
    Both leaders have discussed issues of trade, economic, transit, transport, energy, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, as well as interaction in the areas of digitalization, food security, and renewable energy sources. There was complete consensus among the two leaders to take the bilateral ties to new heights in the coming years.
    President Tokayev is admirer of the development Azerbaijan has achieved during last few years. Kazakhstan is partner of Azerbaijan in many joint ventures including infrastructure development in newly liberated territories of Karabakh.
    President Tokayev, only a day before his departure to Baku said, “Kazakhstan is interested in the soonest conclusion of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
    In an interview with the Azerbaijani news agency “Trends” , the President expressed his country’s eagerness to facilitate the swift conclusion of a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia. President Tokayev commended the ongoing efforts for the revival of Karabakh, noting significant developments in transportation, social amenities, and tourist infrastructure in the region.

    Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan Presidents Determined to Enhance Trade up to $1 Billion

    This is President Tokayev’s second visit to Azerbaijan in two years. He  visited Baku in Aug 2022 and announced the construction of the Kurmangazy Center for Children’s Creative Development in Fuzuli as a gift from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan. He emphasized that this center would symbolize the strong bond of friendship and mutual support between the two nations. During ongoing visit, the President is expected to inaugurate the Center.
    Moreover , A Kazakh Company will build a Central District Hospital in Fuzuli. This speaks a lot about the collaborative projects both countries can start in the future. The spirit is high  and the desire of multifaceted mutual cooperation is reciprocal at both sides.
    The Head of our State congratulated Ilham Aliyev on his convincing victory in the elections of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and on the upcoming holding of the COP-29 summit in Baku in 2024.
    Earlier, at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, the Head of our state was received by the First Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Yagub Eyubov, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Samir Sharifov.
    The official welcoming ceremony of the President of Kazakhstan took place at the Residence.The head of the honor guard gave a report to the leaders of the two countries. After the performance of the national anthems of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Ilham Aliyev introduced each other to the members of the official delegations. At the end of the ceremony, the presidents entered the negotiation hall.
    In meeting with President Ilham, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highly appreciated the level of Kazakh-Azerbaijani cooperation, which is developing very dynamically, filled with new content and joint major projects. In addition, the prospects for the implementation of breakthrough investment projects, which will become new points of growth for the economies of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, were considered.
    Kazakhstan is supporting the rejuvenation of Karabakh and favor the importance of collective efforts in promoting its development. President Tokayev emphasizes that the revitalization of the region’s infrastructure would not only benefit Azerbaijan but also contribute to the broader South Caucasus region’s progress.
    President Tokayev said in his interview, ” Kazakhstan’s readiness to support any initiatives aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the Eurasian region. As an advocate for international peacekeeping initiatives, Kazakhstan stands ready to assist in facilitating a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia.”
