KPK’s Trade Potential with  Central Asian Republics ! Conference at Governor House Peshawar

Peshawar : A high-profile conference was held on 29th July 2025 at the Governor House, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, gathering Khyber Pakhtunkhwa-based Chambers of Commerce and trade associations, government officials, foreign diplomats, acdemia and business leaders to chart a new era of regional trade cooperation.

Keynote addresses were delivered by Noman Bashir (Director TDAP), Syed Jawad Hussain Kazmi (Patron-in-Chief KCCI), and S.M. Tanveer (Patron-in-Chief United Business Group), highlighting the province’s strategic trade role.

Ambassadors/commercial diplomats from Central Asian Republics, Iran and Afghanistan presented encouraging insights into expanding bilateral trade ties.

Ambassadors/commercial diplomats included H.E Kistafin Yerzhan (Ambassador of Kazakhstan ), H.E Shafizoda Saidjon (Charge d Affairs of Tajikistan), H.E Ali Benafshe Khah (Consul General of Iran, Peshawar), H.E Hafiz Mohib Ullah (Consul General of Afghanistan, Peshawar), and Bakhrom Yusupov (Economic and Trade Counsellor of Uzbekistan ).

The Honourable Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Faisal Karim Kundi delivered a compelling speech, underlining the province’s unique geographic and economic position as a trade corridor.

The conference emphasized trade facilitation, regional integration, and unlocking Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s export potential.

Ambassador of Kazakhstan H.E. Mr. Yerzhan Kistafin informed the audience about the implemented and planned bilateral initiatives.

Special attention was given to the importance of establishing direct contacts between the business communities of both countries, which is a key factor in strengthening trade, economic and investment cooperation.

The Ambassador also emphasized the importance of developing interregional cooperation, including in the context of Kazakhstan-Pakistan interaction. He particularly stressed the significance of enhancing transport and logistics corridors and shared information about the work Kazakhstan is carrying out in this direction.

He extended an invitation to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa delegation to visit Kazakhstan. He held separate meetings with business representatives, during which Kazakhstan’s investment and export opportunities were presented.

Ambassador had meeting with the Governor  during which prospects for cooperation were discussed. Considering that the province serves as a kind of gateway for the countries of Central Asia, including Kazakhstan, the Governor expressed strong interest in establishing and strengthening comprehensive cooperation with Kazakhstan.

The Ambassador then visited the Akbar Kare Institute (AKI), a rehabilitation center specializing in support for children with cerebral palsy, spinal dysplasia, muscular dystrophy and other neurodevelopmental disorders.

During the visit, the Ambassador familiarized himself with the Institute’s activities and discussed prospects for developing cooperation between rehabilitation centers and institutions supporting children with various needs in Kazakhstan and Pakistan, with a view to exchanging information, sharing best practices and implementing joint initiatives.

 

Pakistan and Tajikistan have agreed to inaugurate a Business Forum in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and the Khatlon region of Tajikistan.

This consensus was reached in a meeting between Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Saidjon Shafizoda Ismoil and Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), MR. Faisal Karim Kundi at the Governor House today.

The sides discussed the prospects and further development of cooperation in various fields, including economy, trade, investment, energy connectivity, education, agriculture, tourism, culture and art, sports, banking, air communication, as well as other topics of mutual cooperation.

It was emphasized that the provincial leadership of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) is ready to attract successful entrepreneurs from the region for investment and collaboration in the Republic of Tajikistan.
