ISLAMABAD : Finally, the Libya , that is recognized Libya and to whome Pakistan has a full fledged embassy in Tripoli woke up and dealing the matter diplomatically to assert its position in Pakistan. Here question rises, the incumbet Ambassador of Libya (GNA of Tripoli) can cover what has been missed during his tenure in Islamabad so far.

Libyan media reported on 31 Dec , Foreign Minister, Taher Al-Baour, has held talks in Tripoli with senior foreign ministry officials and Libya’s ambassador to Pakistan Moamer Abdalmotlab to discuss closer coordination between the two countries.

The meeting reviewed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen institutional cooperation in line with established diplomatic frameworks, the ministry said, adding that the aim was to advance mutual interests and improve coordination with Libyan embassies abroad.

Officials stressed the importance of regular communication through official channels to reinforce sovereignty, unity of position and the development of Libyan diplomacy.

The talks followed a recent visit to Benghazi by Pakistan’s army chief, Asim Munir, during which he met Khalifa Haftar to discuss training, capacity-building and potential defence cooperation.

Another media report shared , Libya’s Foreign Ministry has recalled the Libyan ambassador to #Islamabad, Muammar Abdul-Mottalib, for consultations over #Pakistan’s multi-billion weapons deal with warlord Khalifa Haftar.
The ministry said in a statement that Foreign Minister El-Taher El-Baour and Abdul-Mottalib addressed the bilateral relations between the two countries to ensure their alignment with established diplomatic frameworks and channels.

Here it is worth mentioning that in a situation when Libyan warlord General Haftar and Sons are building close partnerships with Pakistan army , the Libyan Embassy in Islamabad remained total indifferent thoughout all the process from July this year to Dec deal of “everything of Pakistan military available for Haftar and Sons.”

The ambassador of Libya to Islamabad Moamer Abdalmotlab assumed his charge in Aug 2022. Since then he is among the least active envoys in Pakistan. He was silent during the visit of high level delegation of Lt Gen Saddam Haftar to Pakistan in July 2025.

Saddam Haftar not Commander of Whole Libyan Army ! Pakistan has No Diplomatic Relations with his Regime – How he Can be Welcomed in Islamabad? by Tazeen Akhtar

Ambassador Libya was not available to any Pakistani media person to express Tripoli’s point of view on Saddam Haftar’s visit to Pakistan. Certainly , he did not have any instruction from his government in this regard. Therefore , the government in Tripoli is supposed to review its own policy and then assign duities to the envoys.

Now when Haftar and Sons have signed a big deal of weapons and jets with Pakistan, the Libyan government has finally decided to show up that they are also present in Pakistan. For that , the envoy was called to meet the Foreign Minister and take directions to pursue closer contacts with Pakistan , definitely with military command.

Most astonishingly, the Ambassador of Libya recieved an award of good performance from a think tank in Islamabad. But neither the think tank nor the embassy could share in the media any achievement of the embassy. And what achievement could have been claimed when the rival warlords were being welcomed in Pakistan. and the embassy was a silent spectator only.

Yes ! the enovy can only issue any statement or response only when his government directs him. It means , the Libyan gov itself remained in confusion? What to do What not?

Let’s see how the ambassador covers the backlog of easy going through all last four years. It is almost an impossible challenge to take the bilateral cooperation to a level where it has reached in between Pakistan and General Haftar. It is very difficult if not impossible.
