The National Students Games 2024 kick started at Pakistan Sports Board, Islamabad on 01 Feb to continue till 05 Feb. The National Students Games is a prestigious event that showcases the talent and dedication of young athletes from across the country. It serves as a platform for them to compete and excel in various sports disciplines.
On first day, the inauguration event was graced with the presence of Ambassadors and diplomats as well as officials from different gov departments and sports lovers from civil society. The games are bring together students from different educational institutions, creating an atmosphere of healthy competition and camaraderie.
Ambassador of Kazakhstan H.E Yerzhan Kistafiz , Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan H.E Ulanbek Totuiaev, Ambassador of Nepal H.E Tapas Adhikari, Acting Ambassador of Romania H.E Eduard Robert PREDA, Economic Counselor Czech Republic Mr. Vaclav Jilek, DA UAE Mr. Sultan participated in the event as guests of honor and encouraged the students for their performance in the games.
Federal Minister Commerce Dr Iajz Gohar was also invited and he consented to be the chief guest but at the eleventh hour he could not make it. Here it is worth mentioning that Ijaz Gohar is holding the charge of Interior Ministry as well.
Minister sports Gilgit Baltistan Ghulam Mohammad was also present. He congratulated the organizers and wished the best for the participating teams.
The presence and support of envoys not only motivate the participants but also encourage the youth to actively engage in sports and pursue their athletic dreams.
Ambassador Kazakhstan H.E Yerzhan Kistafin, in his address to the teams, shared about COMBAXX games at the same Liaqat Gymnasium couple of months ago in which Kazakh players participated and won the medals.
Ambassador Kyrgyz Republic H.E Ulanbek Totuiaev apprised the students about higher education opportunities in his country. He said that more than 12 thousand Pakistani students are studying in Kyrgyzstan. He welcomed the contesting players to his country for their higher education.
Ambassador Nepal H.E Tapas Adhikari cherished the memories of cultural cooperation among two countries in 90s when both countries produced popular movies with participation of actors from both sides. He said that both countries can promote sports diplomacy as well.
Acting Ambassador Romania H.E Eduard Robert PREDA shed light on the importance of sports in the life of youth. He shared how much interest his countrymen take in sports activities. He assured his cooperation in enhancing the sports ties between the two countries.Mr. PREDA is playing four games including hockey, tennis and fusal.
