Finally Mr. Prabowo Subianto is 8th President of the great nation of 280 million, the third largest democracy in the world, the biggest economy in ASEAN, the Indonesia.He is 73 years old former military commander. He assumed the office on 20 Oct Sunday and his cabinet has sworn in on Monday 21 Oct 2024 with clear indications of continuity in the policies of President Jokowi on finance, economy and energy.
The new President vows to make his country more self sufficient in food, energy and he is determined to nip the corruption from the bud. He intends to eradicate corruption but in a polite manner as , what he said, the country is a democracy.
Mr. Prabowo Subianto had to face the allegations of human rights violations during his command of military that he denied and same is the reason he is careful in taking actions now as the President. He has made a come back after his termination from service on the alleged matter. It speaks a lot about his consistent efforts to come clean and prove himself a leader. He has done it now.

With a President who is former military commander another appointment is also worth interest and mention. That is the Foreign Minister Mr. Sugiono who is former officer of special forces of the military.
The election for new President was held on 14 Feb this year in which Mr. Prabowo secured 60% of the vote. Second candidate for Presidency was 37 years old Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the eldest son of outgoing President Joko Widodo. He was also present in the swearing in ceremony.
On foreign policy, President Prabowo said,”Indonesia is non-aligned on the global stage, but supports the Palestinian said Jakarta was ready to send more aid to Gaza.
