New TRNC President Seeks Turkish Help for Official Visit to Pakistan & Libya

Islamabad/ Pakistan; Former PM and Newly elected President of Turkish Republic of North Cyprus Mr. Ersin Tatar intends to have official visit to Pakistan and Libya. He was in Ankara on a visit when he made a statement that he is seeking support from Turkey for his visit to above mentioned countries.

Here it is worth mentioning that Pakistan and Libya are among the countries where TRNC repersentatives’ offices have been established. They are not like Embassies but they work on promotion of cooperation and relations building.

In his statement , Mr Tatar further said that “I expect the world will acknowledge TRNC. I want to make some new initiatives. I will introduce TRNC to the world.”

Prime Minister Ersin Tatar National Unity Party  won presidential runoff in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) with 51.74 percent of the votes, on 18 Oct 2020.

Independent candidate Mustafa Akinci,  incumbent president , bagged 48.76 percent of the votes.

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulated Tatar on Twitter and said that Ankara would continue efforts to protect the rights of Turkish Cypriots.

The two leaders later also spoke over telephone, during which President Erdogan said that Tatar had managed to emerge victorious “during a difficult period,” thanks to his vision and leadership.

President Erdogan said he believed “the harmonious cooperation displayed Ersin Tatar’s premiership in every area, particularly regarding the hydrocarbon activities in the Eastern Mediterranean and the TRNC’s development, will be maintained with the same determination.”
