Pak Azerbaijan Leaders Discuss Strengtheing the Cooperation while Delegations Sign Agreement on $2 Billion Investment

    Khankendi / Azerbaijan : 04 July 2025 – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday met with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the sidelines of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit in Khankendi, Azerbaijan.

    In the presence of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar and Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikael Jabbarov signed an agreement for Azerbaijan to invest a total of $2 billion in Pakistan’s economic sector. The Pakistani delegation also accompanied the Prime Minister on the occasion.

    The agreement was signed between the two countries after a cordial meeting between the Prime Minister and the Azerbaijani President in Khankandi today, while the final and detailed agreement will be signed during the Azerbaijani President’s visit to Pakistan.

    The agreement has taken investment and trade relations between the two countries to a historic level and this agreement will prove to be a guarantee for further promotion of brotherly relations and further strengthening of trade partnership between the two countries

    During the meeting, the two leaders agreed to enhance their cooperation in the fields of trade and investment while expressing satisfaction over the progress made regarding the investment prospects.

    Both leaders reiterated their resolve to strengthen the economic partnership, especially Azerbaijan’s investment in Pakistan.

    The prime minister is visiting Azerbaijan to lead Pakistan’s delegation in the 17th ECO Summit in Khankendi, Azerbaijan, held on 3-4 July, 2025.

    On the sidelines of the Summit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a productive bilateral meeting with the President of Azerbaijan where he congratulated him for hosting the 17th ECO Summit in an exemplary manner.

    The prime minister also conveyed his gratitude to President Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan for the gracious hospitality extended to him and his delegation during his recent visit to Lachin, Azerbaijan, from May 27-29, 2025.

    The prime minister thanked President Ilham on Azerbaijan’s steadfast support extended to Pakistan during the recent conflict with India. He stated that Pakistan had also extended consistent support to Azerbaijan in challenging times.

    The prime minister reaffirmed that the recent interactions between the leadership of both countries had helped in making the relationship ever stronger. He also reiterated his invitation to President Ilham to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience.

    Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif lauded the development of brotherly relations between the two countries, fondly recalling his visit to the city of Lachin this May and the trilateral meeting held in the Azerbaijan-Türkiye-Pakistan format.

    The Prime Minister also noted the extensive restoration and reconstruction efforts underway in Karabakh, including in the city of Khankendi, and emphasized the successful development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan in all areas, including politics, economy, trade, investment, energy, and other sectors.

    The President of Azerbaijan expressed his gratitude to the Pakistani Prime Minister for accepting the invitation and participating in the summit.

    President Ilham Aliyev also recalled with satisfaction the Prime Minister’s visit to Lachin and the discussions held in the trilateral format.
