ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) strongly condemns the humiliation and disrespectful behavior of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz towards the Medical Superintendent of Mayo Hospital, Prof. Dr. Faisal Masood.

In a statement on Friday, President PIMA Pakistan Prof. Atif Hafeez Siddiqui, President PIMA Central Punjab Dr. Asif Mehmood Khokhar, and President PIMA Lahore Prof. Muhammad Hamayun emphasized that a hospital facing a severe financial crisis requires the Punjab government and relevant authorities to fulfill their fundamental responsibility of addressing its issues.

Instead of resolving the crucial matter of clearing billions in outstanding dues, a senior professor was publicly humiliated—an act that is not only unjust but also an insult to the entire healthcare community.

The public humiliation of educated professionals sets a harmful precedent in society, further reinforcing negative examples. Such behavior not only demeans individuals engaged in public service but also discourages professionals striving for excellence in their fields.

It is imperative that public figures uphold the dignity of their office, set positive examples, and create an environment where educational, ethical, and professional values are encouraged and respected.
