Pakistani Pilgrims Mistreated at Iraq Border – Lack of Proper Facilities – Unnecessary Delays

ISLAMABAD: Monitoring Desk – Pakistani pilgrims have complaints of mistreatment and lack of proper facilities on Iraq border that is a continuous phenomenon affecting the reputation of Iraqi government in Pakistan.
Unfortunately no official from both sides took notice of the complaints of Pakistani pilgrims but recently a gov official of Pakistan has made this issue news in the papers. Ms Tabinda Saleem, Deputy Director of Information department of Punjab Government shared the worst state of affairs at Iraq border with Pakistani media.

An Urdu newspaper published his statement that the pilgrims were forced to stay under open sky in the scorching sun of September. There was no cleanliness no cold water to drink. The pilgrims were not allowed to sit in the halls where ACs were installed.
” The pilgrims are not cleared in time. They are belated unnecessarily. Pilgrims are forced to wait for long hours, She said.
Ms Tabinda said , ” The officials treat the pilgrims like animals while the Salaars also leave them alone. Salaars receive their fee and go away. They promise food and stay at the sacred places but it is not fulfilled.”
