
ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the Pakistan–Rwanda Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG) was convened today at the Parliament House, Islamabad, under the convenership of Ms. Aasia Ishaque Siddiqui, MNA.
The meeting was attended by Members of the Friendship Group, including Mr. Anjum Aqeel Khan, Mr. Ahmed Saleem Siddiqui, and Ms. Sabheen Ghoury.
Welcoming H.E. Ms. Fatou Harerimana, the High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to Pakistan, Ms. Aasia Ishaque Siddiqui, Convener of the Pakistan–Uganda + Rwanda Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG), proposed the formation of a counterpart Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Parliament of Rwanda to enhance bilateral engagement and promote stronger parliamentary cooperation.
The Convener acknowledged the ongoing challenges in Rwanda and emphasized the expectation that Rwanda would also acknowledge the situation in Jammu & Kashmir and support for a peaceful settlement of the dispute in line with United Nations Security Council resolution.
She emphasized the importance of enhancing Government-to-Government (G2G) cooperation and Business-to-Business (B2B) linkages to unlock trade and investment potential.
She also highlighted the need to promote collaboration in the banking sector, expand opportunities in information technology, encourage tourism and cultural exchanges and deepen parliamentary cooperation.
The Convener, Aasia Ishaque Siddiqui, assured that the High Commission of Rwanda in Pakistan, in coordination with relevant ministries and departments, would work closely to expedite the resolution of pending MoU-related matters on Pakistan’s side.
