Uzbekistan is hosting a conference of the leaders of South and Central Asia on 14-15 July that will pave the way towards development and prosperity of both regions. Uzbekistan has been active advocate of regional connectivity and the conference can open new avenues of connections and contacts between the stakeholders.
Prime Minister Imran Khan will represent Pakistan in this conference. He will arrive in Tashkent on 13 July 2021. Here it is worth mentioning that Prime Minister Imran Khan and President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev held virtual summit in April this year on the connectivity between the two countries and further enhancing the cooperation in all possible sectors.
Pakistan has signed agreement with Uzbekistan on Rail Connectivity to connect Tashkent and Peshawer with railway via Kabul. Uzbekistan Air is restoring direct flights between Tashkent and Lahore from 02 July 2021. Both countries accomplished successfully the pilot project of Truck Trade by road through Afghanistan last month.
Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Mr. Oybek Usmanov says that the conference will bring a revolution in the regional cooperation.
“Our people are looking forward to visit of Prime Minister with warm feelings. Adviser Commerce Mr. Abdul Razzaq Daud will attend Uzbekistan Pakistan Business Forum in Tashkent on 12 July. This forum will help increase the level of bilateral cooperation in trade and economy.” Ambassador said while talking to a delegation that called on him on 25 June at the embassy in Islamabad.
