    ISLAMABAD: Monitoring Desk – President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov held a meeting in a narrow format at the Ala-Archa State Residence in Bishkek. The Head of  state, expressing gratitude for the invitation and warm welcome, noted that the Uzbek-Kyrgyz cooperation has been developing most fruitfully over the past two years. “Kyrgyzstan is our important strategic partner, closest neighbor and time-tested friend,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

    It was stressed that the parties have managed to bring bilateral relations to a completely new level in the last two years. The completion of the delimitation of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border is called a historical event.
    During the talks, issues of development of bilateral political, trade and economic, investment, transport and communication, water and energy and interregional cooperation were discussed.
    The head of Uzbekistan noted with satisfaction that the volume of bilateral trade has increased sevenfold in recent years. Last year alone, the trade turnover increased by 30 percent to $1.3 billion.
    The governments of the two countries were instructed to work out issues of further increasing trade volumes and expanding the range of mutual supplies.
    The issues of implementation of new joint investment projects in industry, textile, energy, mining and agricultural spheres were considered.
    To this end, the potential of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund will be more actively used.
    The two leaders also discussed cooperation within regional structures and on international platforms, issues of security and stability in Central Asia, effective counteraction to modern challenges and threats.
    The mutual desire to continue mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of multilateral structures was confirmed.
    President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrives in Bishkek
    The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, together with his spouse, arrived in Bishkek on a state visit.
    The President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov and his spouse met the distinguished guests at Manas International Airport, decorated with the national flags of the two countries.
    Folklore and musical programs that glorify the friendship of the peoples of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan were performed for the heads of state.
    The President of Uzbekistan, accompanied by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers – Head of the Presidential Administration of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov, visited the Ata Beyit Memorial Complex.
    The President of Uzbekistan laid a wreath at the Urkun Memorial in memory of those who died during the tragic events of 1916.
    The complex, which opened in 2000, was created to restore and preserve the historical memory of the most important stages in the development of Kyrgyz statehood. The Memorial, at the suggestion of the outstanding Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov, was named “Ata Beyit” – “Grave of the Fathers”.
    A solemn welcoming ceremony of Uzbekistan Leader takes place
    On January 27, the official welcoming ceremony of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, who is in Kyrgyzstan on a state visit, was held at the Ala Archa State Residence, in Bishkek.
    A guard of honor was lined up in honor of the distinguished guest. The national anthems of the two countries were played.
    Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Sadyr Zhaparov bypassed the guard of honor and introduced members of official delegations. A joint photographing ceremony took place.
