On November 15th, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented the Peace Formula of ten steps. It consists of ten clear points capable of creating a new, globally important security architecture, which will restore freedom to our entire Ukrainian land, to all our people. And which will serve as guarantees of freedom and security for other nations. Implemented one by one or simultaneously, they can restore peace and security for Ukraine, the whole of Europe, and the world.
These are 1) radiation and nuclear safety; 2) food security; 3) energy security; 4) the release of all prisoners and deported persons; 5) the implementation of the UN Charter and restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and the world order; 6) withdrawal of Russian troops and cessation of hostilities; 7) restoration of justice; 8) countering ecocide; 9) preventing escalation; 10) the confirmation to the end of the war
The Peace Formula will help restore Ukraine’s territorial integrity and respect for the UN Charter. While the world aspires to the rule of law, Russia continues its barbaric policy of the rule of force and grossly violates all its international commitments.
Ukraine is sharp-eyed in its vision for just and sustainable peace. Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented the Peace Formula of ten steps which will put an end to Russian aggression.
Implemented one by one or simultaneously, they can restore peace and security for Ukraine, the whole of Europe, and the world. The Formula provides for the restoration of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.
As Russia’s full-scale aggression on Ukraine nears its first year, we still hear unrealistic suggestions on the need to engage in peace negotiations with Russia as soon as possible. They ignore the fact that at the moment Russia does not propose any meaningful talks and remains focused on destroying Ukraine militarily. The “Peace at any cost” camp ignores not only the reality of Russia’s genocidal war, but also the past experience of failed peace negotiations with Russia.
Russia’s latest statements hint at their wish to secure a new “Minsk” agreement, a new trap for the world. But what Russia really wants is a pause, not peace. Any hypothetical “Minsk-3”, just like the “Minsk-2”, can have only one result: an even bloodier war, which will affect not only Ukraine, but the entire Euro-Atlantic space and the world as a whole.
Repeating mistakes will not yield better results. No other nation craves for peace more than Ukraine. Ukraine needs just and lasting peace which will prevent any new genocidal war against Ukrainians and other nations.
That is why Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed the Peace Formula of 10 specific steps covering the restoration of nuclear, food and energy security in the interests of the entire international community. Those who sincerely seek peace should join the consolidated international efforts on implementing the Ukrainian Peace Formula.
The position of the states of Asia is particularly important to achieve the result. The fate of the diplomatic resolution of the war depends on the countries of Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America, because of the weight and influence of the Global South.
