Islamabad – Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan H.E. Mr. Barlybay Sadykov held a meeting with Mr. Zahid Latif Khan – the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Islamabad Stock Exchange (ISE) on Feb 18, 2019.

The meeting took place within the framework of the new tasks on economization, which were given by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan H.E. Mr. Nursultan Nazarbayev to the bodies of the diplomatic service. The main topic of the meeting was the strengthening of economic ties, as well as an increase in trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Pakistan.

During the meeting, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan briefed the Chairman and other members of ISE Board of Directors with the economic achievements of modern Kazakhstan, as well as with the work of the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC). In his turn, Mr. Khan introduced Ambassador Sadykov with the structure of the Pakistan Stock Exchange, as well as its goals, objectives and role in the economy of Pakistan.

Ambassador Sadykov paid special attention to the fact that the structure of the AIFC is based on English law and corresponds to all international financial requirements. In his speech, Mr. Khan suggested to the companies of both countries carry out so-called cross listing, which practices the simultaneous placement of financial and informational data on the company’s shares on several exchanges in different countries at once.

Summing up the meeting, the parties expressed a common opinion that the first step towards the realization of the above objectives should be the mutual travel of the delegations, led by the leaders of ISE and AIFC.

In this regard, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan announced the visit of Mr. Nurlan Kusainov – the Chairman of the AIFC Board, which is scheduled for April of this year. During his visit, the meeting with the leadership of ISE is being considered. On behalf of ISE leadership, Mr. Khan expressed full support for this initiative.
