U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported carrying out strikes on sites in Iran following Tehran’s attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz area.
In a statement published on the social media platform X, CENTCOM said that U.S. aircraft struck storage sites for Iranian missiles and drones, as well as coastal radar stations. According to the command, these actions were a response to the attack on the vessel M/V Ever Lovely, which was hit by a one-way drone on June 25.
CENTCOM said that Iran’s attacks on civilian shipping constitute “unprovoked aggression” and violate the ceasefire, while also undermining freedom of navigation along one of the world’s key international trade routes.
It was also noted that U.S. forces continue to coordinate the safe passage of commercial vessels through the strait and maintain a military presence in the region to monitor compliance with the agreements.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry strongly condemned a renewed US violation of the memorandum of understanding ending the war, following airstrikes on monitoring facilities along Iran’s southern coast.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the air strikes carried out by the “terrorist army” of the United States in the early hours of Sunday, June 28, 2026, against several monitoring and surveillance facilities on the southern coasts of the country,” the ministry said in a statement.
“These savage attacks, which constitute a clear violation of paragraph 4 of Article 2 of the Charter of the United Nations as well as an explicit violation of paragraph one of the memorandum of understanding ending the imposed war dated June 18, 2026, show that the US regime assigns the least value and credibility to its commitments and that breach of commitments is part of the nature of this regime,” the statement said.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran, while recalling the responsibilities of the United Nations Security Council and the Secretary-General of this organization regarding international peace and security, emphasizes its determination to defend Iran’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity against US military aggression in accordance with Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations,” the Foreign Ministry underlined.
Pakistan’s foreign minister highlighted Islamabad’s ongoing efforts to secure the release of Iranian crew members detained on board a vessel intercepted by the US.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi held a telephone conversation with his Pakistani counterpart Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday evening to discuss bilateral relations and the latest diplomatic developments.
During the call, Araqchi thanked the government and people of Pakistan for hosting Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and his accompanying delegation during the president’s recent visit to Islamabad. He also expressed hope that the understandings and agreements reached during the trip would be seriously pursued and implemented at various levels.
For his part, Pakistan’s foreign minister appreciated President Pezeshkian’s visit and briefed Araqchi on measures and follow-up efforts undertaken by Pakistani authorities to secure the release of the Iranian crew members of the Lenore-Davina vessel.
The two foreign ministers also reviewed the latest diplomatic developments and stressed the need for continued consultations and cooperation to support lasting peace and stability in the region.
The case of Iranian sailors involves the vessel Lenore-Davina, which was intercepted by US forces in the Indian Ocean in early June as part of Washington’s campaign targeting maritime trade linked to Iran. Iranian officials have criticized such actions and called for respect for freedom of navigation and the rights of civilian maritime personnel.
