Islamabad: 28 Jan 2022 – The Department of Information and Communications of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic reports that at about 17:50, civilians arrived in trucks loaded with stones at the Tort-Kocho area.

The citizens of Tajikistan unloaded the stones, thus blocking the Batken-Isfana highway. They were accompanied by border guards of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Following the meeting of the border representatives of the two republics, the highway was opened for traffic. But despite the fact that the issue was resolved, the Tajik side, already on another section of the border in the Chir-Dobo area, opened fire on the military personnel of Kyrgyzstan using mortars and grenade launchers.

Following the Tajik border guards used weapons against the Kyrgyz military personnel in the area of Tort-Kocho. The actions of the military of Tajikistan on the spot were coordinated, which confirms the advance preparation of the provocation.

The use of mortars, which are not included in the regular set of border troops, demonstrates that the border troops of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan use the forces and means of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan, which is a gross violation of international and bilateral agreements between countries.

The Tajik side is firing mortars at power lines and border outposts.
The demands of the Kyrgyz side for a ceasefire are ignored by the Tajik military.

Tajikistan Embassy in Islamabad is silent on this issue. Therefore, no view point of Tajikistan is available to Pakistani press so far.
