ISLAMABAD : Monitoring Desk – The alleged victim of gang rape in Lahore, a young Azerbaijani girl recorded her statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure before a judicial magistrate on Monday.
She appeared before Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Sagheer at Cantonment Courts under tight security. Before proceedings began, the magistrate directed unrelated individuals to leave the courtroom. Her statement lasted for more than an hour.
The girl, identified as Diana daughter of Rahimiky , had travelled to Pakistan for business purposes and was staying at a residence near Raiwind Road. According to her complaint, two women invited her to dinner and accompanied her to a café, where they met three men. Defence C police had registered a case against three unidentified suspects following her complaint.
Lahore police have arrested two main suspects in connection with the alleged gang rape of a 20-year-old Azeri young girl in the Defence area.
Police officials said the suspects, identified as Tanveer and Mohsin, were arrested during separate raids in the Ravi Road and Sundar areas on Sunday night.
Police have since identified the alleged prime suspects and are working to arrest them. Authorities have also requested that their names be placed on the Provisional National Identification List after they reportedly left Lahore.
Police said one suspect was traced to Sialkot, while two relatives and a domestic worker linked to one suspect were taken into custody for questioning.
DIG Operations Faisal Kamran said multiple police units, including the Crime Control Department and investigation teams, were jointly handling the case. The vehicle allegedly used during the incident has also been seized.
Police have also detained four other individuals, including the two women who allegedly invited Diana to dinner, as part of the ongoing investigation.
According to police sources, the three detainees are relatives of alleged suspects Tanveer and Mohsin. Investigators detained them from Bahria Town and Defence on suspicion of facilitating the gang rape. Police are also examining claims that two female acquaintances allegedly lured Diana to a café before taking her to a location in Defence. Three men allegedly assaulted her there.
Investigators have taken custody of a white Sonata reportedly owned by Tanveer. Police are examining the vehicle as part of their investigation. They have also obtained photographs allegedly showing the suspects outside a market in Defence.
Police are also reviewing her previous travel history and movements in Pakistan. Authorities are continuing efforts to locate the main suspects and establish the complete sequence of events surrounding the alleged incident.
