ISLAMABAD : Pakistani Federal Investigation Agency FIA Immigration Cell allegely busted human tafficking gang while checking the travelers to Cyprus via Gulf Air.

The FIA Immigration wing at Islamabad International Airport foiled an attempt at human smuggling involving Gulf Air flight GF-771, bound for Cyprus. During immigration clearance, three passengers—Yasir Ali, Adeel Ahmed, and Adnan Ahmed—were detained for secondary profiling due to suspicious activity.

One passenger had paid millions of rupees to an agent for illegal immigration clearance, a Protector stamp, and travel arrangements; evidence linking him to a Europe-bound smuggling network and suspicious travel documents belonging to multiple individuals were recovered from his mobile phone.

The mobile phone of the second passenger was found to have been completely wiped of data, further reinforcing suspicions that evidence was being concealed. All three passengers were offloaded and handed over to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle, Islamabad.

Pakistani LEAs at airports are holding thousands of travelers even with valid documents and visa only on suspicion. Lahore highcourt has directed the authorities not to stop the travelers with valid visas but in many cases this direction is not obeyed.

Pakistan earns more than $42 Billion annually in shape of remittances sent by overseas Pakistanis and Kashmiris. Pakistan’s own exports are not more than $20 Billion.
