LAHORE : Bureau Report – Delegation from Karakalpakstan, an autonomous republic of Uzbekistan visited Capital of Punjab Province of Pakistan. The delegation included Farxod Armanov, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan.The visiting dignitary met Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The delegation invited Punjab to participate in Karakalpakstan’s Special Economic Zone, modeled after Punjab’s style.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif welcomes the delegation at her office where both sides held detailed discussions on strengthening bilateral relations, trade, and investment. Ambassador to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtaev was also present.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in special economic zones and explore joint projects in the agriculture, livestock, textile, and industrial sectors. They also discussed a proposal to declare Lahore and Nukus as sister cities.
The participants reviewed the possibility of allocating 100 to 200 hectares of land in Karakalpakstan for potato cultivation and discussed the potential annual export of 30,000 head of livestock from Punjab to Uzbekistan.
The delegation invited Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to visit Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan, an invitation she accepted with thanks. She said there is significant potential to further expand the trade corridor and regional cooperation between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
